If you didn’t know–or have simply forgotten—Armie Hammer (which seems so random, but OK) has taken it upon himself to remind the world.
Hammer (❤️who of course starred as “Illya” in The Man From UNCLE❤️) was reacting to a call on Twitter to boycott Equinox and SoulCycle because of owner Stephen Ross’ ties to Trump.
Which is when Hammer tweeted,
Hey, while everyone seems to be on this Equinox thing, it might be a good time to mention that one of Trump’s largest financial contributors is the chairman of Marvel Entertainment (Isaac Perlmutter). Just saying.
It’s one of those many facts that not many people in the comic book industry talk about in public…because so many people either depend on Marvel Comics for work or want to work for Marvel (and we can include a portion of the “comics media” within that number, assuring that the Marvel/Trump connection stays relatively on the down-low).
By contrast, it’s much easier to publicly call out Comicsgate and Ethan Van Sciver and feel you’ve done your political activism for the day. You put all your focus and ire against some dopey Kickstartered comic book and some videos, and meanwhile the CHAIRMAN of one of the two biggest comic book publishers gives the Trump campaign a million dollars. As if magically that Trump/GOP connection has no impact on Marvel Comics, their content, or who they hire (or fire) at all.
As for Hammer? As some angry Trump-loving Marvel fans pointed out, he’s clearly a “Warner Bros/DC” guy who’s salty that he couldn’t be in Avengers Infinity Endgame.
Let’s look at Armie Hammer again, shall we?
OK, now Winklevoss Twin:
Nice, nice…now pouty Illya:
And let’s finish with Armie and baby raccoon:
Thank you for reading, and have a good day.
