The biggest takeaway I have to the trailer for the sequel to Jurassic World (itself a sequel to other “Jurassic” projects) is…how did they shoehorn the creepy kid-predation sinisterness of IT in a movie about dinosaurs?
The first scene in this trailer to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is a dino breaking into some kid’s bedroom and delicately creeping on her with its clawed hand. That’s…that’s a weird imagery for a “Jurassic Park” franchise movie.
But the whole trailer really smacks of: “the dream’s over, childhood is cancelled, the bad guys have bought the Park.” So at least…that’s sort of interesting?
I found Jurassic World to be enjoyable enough as a tentpole special effects laden flick you see in a theater. Not really a masterpiece with the depth of the original Jurassic Park…but “okay.” Not really expecting a lot more here, unless they really do intend to get “dark.”
