Doctor Who’s New Companion Rumored To Be “The Chase” Host Bradley Walsh

The new Doctor Who, played by Jodie Whittaker, may end up having an equally new Companion…who is a bit older than her, to boot!

The rumor of the moment is that Bradley Walsh, current host of the game shows The Chase and Cash Trapped, will be taking on the role of DW’s sidekick in the new season. That is…that’s the *rumor*…from The Mirrorwho were so right about that whole Kris Marshall thing!

To be fair, the idea that an unconventional Companion—they’re usually young women (a notable exception being Donna Noble)—would be paired up with an unconventional (read: female) Doctor does not strain credulity. Walsh, also known for his role as Danny Baldwin in the soap Coronation Street, is an amiable and seasoned actor and would probably be great in the role.

PLUS: he was in several episodes of the Doctor Who spinoff Sarah Jane Adventures.

As for now, there is no official confirmation regarding Walsh being cast in the show. HOWEVER, “A Source” was quoted in the Mirror article as saying, seemingly on his behalf, “Bradley is super excited to be joining the cast of Doctor Who in such a key role.”

So there you go.
