Donald Glover continues to build his TV empire with an animated version of Deadpool, which has just received a 10-episode order from FXX. The actor/writer/musician is already the creative juggernaut behind FX’s Atlanta; the untitled Deadpool project (which, for all we know, might very well end up be called Deadpool) is slated for 2018 and will be an adult cartoon very much like FX/FXX’s Archer.

Nick Grad, President of Original Programming for FX Networks, had this to say about Glover and the impending Deadpool-like series:

“Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta. With the success of Legion, we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.”

Glover is no stranger to superheroes, as he was the subject of a fan-campaign several years back to be the next live-action Spider-Man. He will be appearing in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming as an as-of-yet unknown character, and in the Han Solo movie as a young Lando Calrissian.
